President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has nominated new members for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) following the resignations of vice-president Abdul Salam and member Thoha Mohamed in November.
The president sent the names of Ahmed Nasheed, and Asiya Azima to Parliament for approval. However, the President later withdrew Asiya Azima's name and nominated Abdulla Nasheed. These updated nominations were then sent back to Parliament for review.
The Speaker of Parliament announced that the names were forwarded to the Committee on Independent Institutions for further scrutiny. On Monday, the president's letter was read in Parliament, and the nominees will now undergo further evaluation before Parliament votes on their appointments.
