Romania and Kazakhstan have entered the list of the top 10 countries with the highest number of tourist arrivals to the Maldives, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism.

As of 14 January, 1,863 tourists from Kazakhstan had visited the Maldives, securing the ninth position on the list. Romania follows closely at tenth place with 1,839 arrivals. These two nations have surpassed Spain and Switzerland, which previously featured among the top markets for the Maldives.

This year, a total of 90,659 tourists have arrived in the Maldives so far, reflecting an 8 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Russia remains the leading market with 12,920 arrivals, followed by Italy with 10,662. Meanwhile, China, which topped the charts at the end of 2024, now ranks fourth with 6,667 visitors.

The consistent rise in arrivals from diverse markets highlights the Maldives' enduring appeal as a premier travel destination.
