A newly recorded fish species has once again been discovered in the Maldives.
In a Facebook post, the Maldives Marine Journal stated that the fish was discovered during a marine survey conducted by foreign scientists and the Maldives Marine Research Institute.
The Maldives Marine Journal said that the fish was found at the depth where light begins to fade in the ocean, which is about 100-150 meters deep. It is a colorful fish that grows to 2-3 inches in size.
The Maldives Marine Journal reported that the marine survey found this fish in many areas of the Maldives. It was found in abundance from North Ari Atoll to South Nilandhe Atoll.
The fish was named "Raki Bureki" because it quickly disappears as soon as divers spot it.
