The Islamic Ministry has announced that the distribution of dates gifted by Saudi Arabia to the people of Maldives will begin next Monday.
Every year, Saudi Arabia gifts dates to the Maldives coinciding with the month of Ramadan. For the past two years, Saudi Arabia has gifted 50 tons of dates to the Maldives.
The Islamic Ministry said today that the distribution of dates gifted by Saudi Arabia for this year's Ramadan will take place from next Monday to February 6th, every day from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.
The distribution plan is set at 25 packets of dates for every 100 households. In cities and island communities, dates will be distributed to residential households in order, with one packet per household.
The Islamic Ministry stated that dates will be distributed to households based on their electricity meter number and after checking the ID card of the person receiving the dates. In Male', Hulhumale', and Vilimale', dates will be distributed from the Islamic Center. In other islands and cities, dates will be distributed by the respective island or city council.
Dates will also be given to organizations that arrange Iftar programs or provide meals for breaking the fast during Ramadan. Interested organizations have been invited to register with the Islamic Ministry.
