President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has submitted the nominations of Ahmed Nasheed (M. Golden Moon) and Asiya Azeema (R. Hulhudhuffaaru/ Rosevilla) to the Parliament for their appointment as members of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu submitted a letter to Parliament seeking approval to appoint Nasheed and Asiya to the two vacant positions at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The Speaker then referred the matter to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Independent Institutions for further review.

Nasheed, nominated for the ACC, previously served on the Police Board since 2021 but was dismissed by the current administration. Asiya, meanwhile, has a background as vice-president of the traders' association and as deputy director of Parliament.

The two positions became vacant following the resignation of the ACC's vice-president, Abdul Salam, and member Thoha Mohamed in November. Their resignations came after a parliamentary committee endorsed their removal amid multiple corruption allegations.
