Police have taken a 37-year-old Maldivian into custody for vandalism and attempted theft of a STELCO transformer in Hulhumale' Phase II.
The accused, identified as Ibrahim Zalif, is accused of assaulting a STELCO employee with a wrench.
The arrest took place at 2143hrs on Tuesday night near Reethigas Magu bridge. According to a post by STELCO MD Hussain Fahmy, the assault took place when STELCO employee caught Zalif trying to steal the transformer and intervened.
Police have confirmed the case is currently under investigation.
