Housing and Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdullah Muthalib has apologized to those who applied for the Gedhoruverin scheme for the delay in releasing the list of flat recipients.

In a press conference held at the President's Office today, the Minister said that as the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) had informed that there were significant issues with the list, the task became to allocate flats to rightful recipients fairly.

In addition to this work, the Minister said they have also reviewed the forms that did not meet the criteria.

"This list was announced on November 15, 2023, and I sincerely apologize to all those who submitted forms for this scheme for not releasing the verified list addressing the issues identified by various agencies over the past 14 months," the Minister said.

Minister Muthalib said that in his position as Minister, he will work with a policy of transparency, sharing information with the public to achieve results. He added that the hope is to complete the verification work of the flat list and gazette it before Ramadan.

The Gedhoruverin scheme was a project run by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government. As that government's term ended, a list of 4000 flat recipients was gazetted, but the ACC identified issues and investigated the matter. After the ACC highlighted the issues, the current government began the process of reviewing the forms again.
