Housing and Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdullah Muttalib said today that they have decided to send the servers of the ministry, which were damaged in the fire incident at the Housing Ministry building on the 12th of last month, to Singapore to attempt recovery.
In a press conference held at the President's Office today, the Minister said that the fire incident occurred while work was being done to install backup server systems in the Umar Zahir Office building, and that work was nearing completion.
The Minister said that although the servers were damaged, no information from the Gedhoruverin/Binverin scheme was lost. He added that they are trying to recover the server disks and are sending them to Singapore to see if any information can be recovered.
"However, the fire has caused quite significant damage," the Minister said.
Dr. Ali Haidar, who was the Housing Minister at the time of the fire incident, had previously stated that many documents and data of the Housing Ministry were lost in the fire. He said that all employee information and information about the projects carried out by the ministry would be on the servers.
