The "JW Marriott Kaafu Atoll Island Resort," developed by Marriott International on Hathaa Finolhu, which operates numerous resorts in the Maldives and around the world, was opened last Sunday, marking the first resort opening of the year.

The resort has 81 beds. With this resort, the number of resorts operated by Marriott International in the Maldives has risen to 9.

Speaking on PSM's "Raajje Mihaadhu" program last night, Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal said that the opening of the first resort of the year in January is very good, and there are still many resorts under development. The Minister also said that the Dusit Thani resort being developed on Feydhoo Finolhu will open very soon.

"I hope the nearby Feydhoo Finolhu, I met with them last year. It's being developed by a Chinese developer. Dusit Thani management company is managing it, I met with both the developer and them. According to them, the resort will open around early March or April," the Minister said.

Minister Faisal further stated that in addition to resorts, more beds will be added this year through local tourism, and that local tourism is also progressing at a rapid pace.
