Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has launched a chartered schedule cargo service in collaboration with an India's Afcom Holdings.
To inaugurate the service, 30 tons of cargo have been imported from Chennai, India to Velana International Airport (VIA). The cargo was brought in on an Etihad Airways flight.
MACL said that under the newly launched cargo service, Afcom is scheduled to operate three flights per week, and there are plans to expand operations in the future.
MACL also stated that Afcom Airlines will be working on establishing interline agreements with major airlines to streamline cargo import and export operations through VIA.
Afcom Holdings Limited is a Chennai-based company that has been operating as an international cargo airline. The company has been providing cargo services to ASEAN countries as well.
