KFC and Pizza Hut outlets in Malé have been closed.

According to information received by "One", KFC and Pizza Hut were closed sometime last week.

Due to declining business, it was also decided to relocate the KFC in Hulhumalé in November. That outlet was also temporarily closed at that time.

On November 23, KFC Hulhumalé told "One" that they decided to move to a better business location in Hulhumalé due to declining business at their current location. However, they did not specify which area in Hulhumalé or provide any further details.

While KFC and Pizza Hut have been closed, many countries around the world have started campaigns to boycott businesses associated with Israel in opposition to Israel's attacks on Gaza, Palestine. These businesses include KFC and Pizza Hut.

However, KFC has stated that the company does not support Israel and that it is not a business associated with any political matters.

In relation to this issue, on November 11, 2023, a group of masked individuals entered the KFC outlet in Malé, sprayed black oil, and threatened to stop these businesses in the Maldives.

KFC's glass front has been smashed twice, with the first incident occurring at midnight on July 16 last year. Four days later, the glass was smashed for the second time.

There have also been periodic protests in front of these establishments calling for the closure of KFC and Pizza Hut.
