Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has arrived in Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Dr Tawfiq Al-Rabia, the Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah.
During the visit, the Maldives and Saudi Arabia are set to sign the annual Hajj Agreement, further solidifying cooperation between the two countries in facilitating the pilgrimage. Dr Shaheem will also attend the Hajj Exhibition 1446, organised by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj, which highlights efforts to enhance pilgrimage arrangements for Islamic countries.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs stated that key discussions will take place with the Saudi Minister of Hajj to address issues related to the pilgrimage. President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his commitment to increasing the Hajj quota for Maldivian pilgrims and introducing significant changes to Hajj regulations to improve the process.
The visit underscores the Maldives' commitment to ensuring a smooth and fulfilling Hajj experience for its citizens while strengthening ties with Saudi Arabia.
