Some senior members who left the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) due to internal differences during the last presidential election and formed The Democrats with former President Nasheed have now rejoined the MDP.
Among them are Hussain Amru, who served as the Managing Director of STO during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration and was the running mate for the Democrats in the most recent presidential election; Mohamed Shifaz, who served as a Minister at the President's Office and was the then Deputy President of MDP; and Ali Azim, former MP for the Medhu Henveyru constituency in the 19th People's Majlis.
Some senior MDP officials have confirmed to One that these three individuals have left the Democrats and rejoined the MDP today.
Amru, Shifaz, and Azim were part of former President Nasheed's faction within the two factions that emerged due to differences of opinion within the MDP during former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's government.
