The police have stated today that the allocation of a Vinares flat to Economic Crime Department Head Superintendent of Police Rajunee Shuaib, was not done outside of the established procedures.
In a post on X, the police said that after examining information shared by relevant authorities to determine if any procedures were violated in Rajunee's acquisition of a Vinares flat, no such violations were identified.
Rajunee was relieved of his duties following news reports claiming he had received a flat from the Vinares project against procedures.
The police had then stated that the change was made to maintain the credibility of the ongoing investigations into the Binveriya and Gedhoreveriya schemes by the Economic Crime Investigations unit, and to ensure that there would be no negative impact on those investigations.
