President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that funds have been allocated to resume development projects that were delayed due to a shortage of rock boulders.

Speaking to the residents of GDh. Rathafandhoo, the President highlighted that the island's coastal protection project, managed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), had been stalled due to a lack of funds and essential materials.

He explained that many projects across various islands, including port construction, erosion control, and land reclamation, have been delayed because of the unavailability of rock boulders.

As such, he added that the Administration has held meetings with heads of the relevant companies, the Finance Minister, and the Construction Minister to address the shortage of materials needed for the projects.

The President assured residents that the required materials would soon be procured and work on the coastal protection project would resume shortly. He also promised that arrangements would be made for residents to access the sea during the construction.
