President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced tonight that work has begun to resolve electricity issues in all affected islands before the start of Ramadan this year.
Speaking at a meeting with residents of GDh. Fiyoari during his trip to Huvadhoo Atoll, the President said that due to years of poor maintenance of Fenaka's powerhouses, many generators have been damaged and need replacement. He added that some islands need additional generators, while others need to upgrade the size of their generators, which required significant expenditure last year.
"We have now started special efforts, with the Finance Ministry, Fenaka, STO, and MTCC companies working together. We are aiming to resolve generator issues in every single island across the Maldives that has electricity problems, without leaving out any island, by bringing and installing the necessary generators before the upcoming Ramadan," the President said.
He stated that the government aims to resolve electricity issues to a level where people won't have to worry during this year's Ramadan, and they will try to do it to the satisfaction of the people.
