President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has officially inaugurated a new water and sanitation system in GDh. Hoandehdhoo during the first destination of his visit to the Atoll.

The project, part of the Exim Bank of India's line of credit, aims to provide water and sanitation facilities to 34 islands across the Maldives. The Ministry of Construction, Housing, and Infrastructure awarded the project to Treveni Engineering and Industries Limited, which has successfully implemented the infrastructure.

Key components of the project include the establishment of five sewage pump stations, the construction of a sea outfall, and the installation of water pipelines throughout the village. Additionally, two reverse osmosis (RO) plants, each capable of producing 75 tonnes of water daily, have been installed, along with two storage tanks to ensure a steady supply of water.

Households across the island are now connected to the sewerage network, providing a significant improvement in living standards.
