A car collided with a pickup truck at Velana International Airport (VIA) this morning, resulting in minor injuries to the driver and a passenger.

The accident occurred around 0945hrs, according to Maldives Police Service. The car reportedly lost control, striking road dividers and vans before colliding with the rear of a pickup truck.

Emergency services quickly responded to the scene. The driver of the car was transported to Hulhumalé Hospital for medical treatment, while the passenger, who sustained minor injuries, received treatment at the airport clinic.

No serious injuries were reported. Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.

Police presence was increased in the area following the incident to manage traffic and ensure public safety.
