A Syrian national and a Jordanian national who were engaged in business activities while on tourist visas in the Maldives is facing deportation.

Immigration posted on X today stating that the case was investigated following complaints received from the public. They said that these two individuals had violated their tourist visas by engaging in business activities in the Maldives and were also living in public places illegally.

Immigration has detained a 19-year-old Syrian woman and a 24-year-old Jordanian man.

Immigration stated that they are in the process of deporting these two individuals.

Immigration has requested the public to report cases of foreigners staying illegally in the Maldives in this manner to their department.

While the decision has been made to deport these two individuals who were conducting business illegally on tourist visas, Immigration also detained a Chinese tourist last month who had entered the Maldives on a tourist visa, engaged in business activities in Male', and was sleeping in public places.
