The Government of Saudi Arabia has once again donated 50 tonnes of dates to the Maldives, continuing its annual tradition of support during the holy month of Ramadan.
Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, announced the arrival of the dates last night. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has already begun preparations to distribute the dates to households across the Maldives before Ramadan begins.
This generous contribution reflects Saudi Arabia's longstanding support for the Maldives during the fasting month.
Minister Dr Shaheem said that this year, dates will also be given to organisations that arrange Iftar at the mosques.
