A Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM) vessel ran aground in GA. Nilandhoo, as confirmed by Nilandhoo Council President, Nasih Ibrahim.
The council received reports of the incident early this morning and promptly informed the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) and the police. According to Nasih, communication was established with the crew aboard the vessel, who confirmed they were expecting another vessel to assist and declined additional help.
“The crew informed us that they had arranged for another boat to assist them, so no further intervention was required at this time,” Nasih stated.
Nasih also clarified that while the council notified MNDF and the police, there was no active presence from either party in the area during the incident.
Reassuring the public, Nasih confirmed that no oil spills have occurred as a result of the grounding. Efforts will be made to assess the extent of the damage to the vessel.
The MNDF has not yet responded to calls for comment regarding the situation.
