The decision to include the waste management service fee charged by Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) to households in the atolls in their electricity bills starting this month has been reversed.
According to Ahmed Shafiu, Managing Director of WAMCO's Southern Operations, starting from this month's bill, WAMCO's bill would have been combined with the electricity bill in the islands, similar to the Male' area. He had stated that if the electricity consumption doesn't reach 34 units, WAMCO wouldn't bill that household for that month.
However, in a statement released today, WAMCO said that the decision to include their bill in the electricity bills for atoll islands has been withdrawn following the directive of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Therefore, WAMCO will only bill those who have registered for their services. The company stated that bill payments can be made at WAMCO offices and through their online portal "Avas Portal".
