The Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) has reported that Male' received 60 millimeters of rainfall within an hour yesterday.

An official from the MET Office told "One" tonight that Male' has received 160 millimeters of rainfall in the past 24 hours. The official stated that the heaviest rainfall occurred between 5-6 PM.

The official said that 60 millimeters of rain fell between 5-6 PM, which is a record amount.

Due to the heavy rain, alerts were issued for a large part of the Maldives. Among these, a white alert was issued from Ha. Atoll to R. Atoll, and an orange alert was issued from B. Atoll to Th. Atoll until 11:00 PM last night.

The MNDF posted on X today stating that due to heavy rainfall and flooding on Male' streets, the MNDF Fire and Rescue Service has deployed 16 pumps in six areas of Male' to drain water. So far, they have drained 7,639 tons of water.

They also mentioned that MNDF Male' Area Command soldiers are actively assisting homes that are experiencing floods due to heavy rainfall. This includes placing sandbags in houses, according to the MNDF.

Due to flooding on the streets, the police posted on X requesting people not to drive heavy vehicles on the roads until the water recedes and the situation returns to normal. They also urged people not to drive four-wheeled vehicles unless absolutely necessary.
