Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has been deployed to assist in response to severe flooding caused by heavy rains and high tides across seven islands.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reported flooding in B. Narudhoo, R. Inguraidhoo, F. Nilandhoo, F. Magoodhoo, U. Mamigili, Dh. Kudahuvadhoo, and Dh. Meedhoo. MNDF teams are conducting water removal operations in affected areas.

Sh. Narudhoo has been the worst hit, with 12 houses inundated, household items damaged, and several homes affected in ADh. Maamigili. Despite the flooding, NDMA confirmed that no humanitarian assistance was required due to the loss of homes.

The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued an orange alert for areas from Baa Atoll to Thaa Atoll, warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming hours. Residents are advised to stay vigilant and take precautions.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and provide necessary support to the affected communities.
