President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has described the past year as one of empowerment and sovereignty for the Maldivian people. Reflecting on the year's accomplishments in a social media post, he emphasised that recent constitutional amendments have strengthened the rights of the people, returning significant decision-making powers to them.
Among the key achievements, the President highlighted reforms ensuring that no foreign troops remain in the Maldives without parliamentary approval. This move, he stated, safeguards national sovereignty and reflects the aspirations of the people.
The government has also introduced constitutional amendments to empower citizens in decisions related to the country’s territorial waters. The President noted that these reforms align with the people’s vision and reinforce the principle of governance by the people.
President Dr Muizzu reiterated his administration’s commitment to upholding the nation’s sovereignty and ensuring that the government remains responsive to the will of its citizens.
