India has beaten the Maldives 14-0 in the first friendly match between India and the Maldives.
The match was played at the Padukone-Dravid Center for Sports in Bangalore today. The next match will be played on January 2nd, in the same field.
Earlier in the 2014 Asian Games, Maldives lost 15-0 to India. Since then, Indian women's football has improved significantly. The country hosted a domestic women's football tournament last season.
India came out with a strong squad for the tournament. India scored three goals in the first 11 minutes of the match and finished the first half with eight goals. The other goals were scored in the second half.
Four of India’s goals in the match, Linda Kom scored, while Piyari Zaza scored a hat-trick. Neha and Kajal D'Souza scored two goals each while Ngeeta Basfor, Ranjana Chanu and Rimpa Haldar scored the other goals.
