Ahmed Shareef, former Chairman of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO), has been appointed as Chairman of the Maldives Fisheries and Ocean Resources Marketing and Promotion Corporation (MFORMPC). The appointment, effective 30 December 2024, came on the same day he was removed from his position at MIFCO.

Shareef, originally from GDh. Thinadhoo, served as MIFCO Chairman during a crucial period for the nation’s fisheries sector, having been appointed to the role on 9 December 2023. Known for his leadership and extensive experience in both public and private sectors, he has built a strong reputation for promoting transparency and efficiency.

In his new role, Shareef is expected to bring his forward-thinking approach to MFORMPC, an organisation responsible for managing fisheries resources and processing.
