Five people have been injured in a collision involving three motorcycles on the Bridge Highway connecting Malé and Hulhumalé, police reported on Monday.

The accident occurred at around 1211hrs when a motorcycle attempting to overtake another struck two other bikes and collided head-on with another coming from behind.

Four of the injured were treated and discharged the same evening. One individual remains hospitalised at Tree Top Hospital, though their condition is reported to be stable and not life-threatening.

Police stated that one of the vehicles involved was being towed illegally. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
