Male' City Council has decided to make changes to traffic flow to carry out work to solve the flooding issue on Majeedhee Magu.

In an announcement made last Thursday, the City Council stated that from today until the fourth day of January, there will be changes to the traffic flow on Majeedhee Magu from Chandhanee Magu to Rahdhebai Magu.

According to the map showing the changes to the traffic flow in that area, traffic will be controlled from the point where Rahdhebai Magu turns left onto Majeedhee Magu up to Dhanburudhoo Magu. Also, the side of Majeedhee Magu in front of the former Arabiyya School will be closed for repairs. Traffic will also be controlled from Nikagas Magu to Chandhanee Magu.

Additionally, vehicles will not be able to enter Majeedhee Magu from either side of Janavaree Goalhi. Therefore, the City Council requests the public's cooperation in this matter.

According to Met Office records, on the 19th of this month, due to a low-pressure system that formed in two areas near the Maldives, Male' received 136.5 millimeters of rain. Due to heavy rain and flooding on Male' roads, MNDF placed 16 pumps in five areas of Male' to drain water.

In the most recent rainy spell in Male', the area around IGMH was the most flooded. In addition, Majeedhee Magu was also flooded.
