President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced significant changes to the Cabinet, renaming several ministries and redefining their responsibilities. The new appointments and restructuring were formalised during a ceremony at the President's Office on Thursday morning.

At the event, President Muizzu appointed:

The newly appointed Ministers took their oath of office, administered by Supreme Court Justice Hon Uz Ali Rasheed Hussain, before signing their declarations of the oath.

In a notable structural change, the President has disbanded the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development. Its functions and services have been reassigned to the Ministry of Finance and Planning and the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure.

Following the appointments, President Dr Muizzu held a meeting with the four Ministers. He emphasised the importance of the upcoming year, describing it as critical for the Maldives’ development, with numerous projects planned. He urged the Ministers to streamline the operations of their respective ministries while ensuring a smooth transition for staff affected by the restructuring.
