The Maldives is set to achieve its tourism target of 2 million arrivals this year on Thursday, according to the Ministry of Tourism. As of yesterday, the total number of tourists stood at 1,985,800.
This year’s target reflects the country’s ongoing recovery and growth in the tourism sector. The ministry reported an average of 6,442 daily arrivals this month, marking a 7.8 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Statistics reveal that tourists spend an average of 7.7 days in the Maldives, with over 5,500 tourists arriving daily throughout the year. China leads in arrivals, contributing 261,626 visitors, followed by Russia with 217,197 and the United Kingdom with 175,646.
India, the largest tourism source market last year, has recorded 127,125 arrivals so far this year.
