The new Managing Director of Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Mohamed Mauroof Jameel, has met with the Commissioner of Police, Ali Shujau, today.

According to the police, this meeting was held as an introductory meeting following Mauroof's recent appointment as the Managing Director of HDC. They also stated that discussions were held regarding the ongoing investigation into the Gedhoruverin and Binveriya schemes.

Mauroof was appointed to the position of Managing Director of HDC following the resignation of Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed. Fazul resigned amid allegations of allocating land to certain individuals against the rules of the Binveriya Scheme and selling plots in Hulhumale at discounted rates without bidding to some members of PNC's PG Group. Fazul was under suspension at the time of his resignation.

In addition to Fazul, all board members of HDC except for the Chairman Ahmed Nasif have been suspended. Later, some senior management staff were also suspended, and some employees were dismissed.

In connection with this case, the passports of 20 individuals, including Fazul Rasheed and his brother, MWSC Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Fazeel Rasheed, have been withheld.

Furthermore, the passports of Akram Kamaluddin (Former State Minister of Planning Ministry and Chairman of the Flat Committee), Mohamed Arif (former Senior Executive Director of Housing Ministry), Ahmed Vishan Naseem (former Director General of Housing Ministry), and Lirugam Waheed (former Senior Executive Director of Housing Ministry), who were members of the Flat Committee formed to determine flat recipients under the previous government's Gedhoruverin program, have also been withheld.
