A special exhibition titled "Viluntheri 20" has been decided to be held in connection with the National Unity Day, which is observed in relation to the 2004 tsunami disaster that struck the Maldives in 2004.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said that the exhibition, to be held at the National Art Gallery from the 26th to the 29th of this month, aims to appreciate all those who responded to the tsunami disaster and to refresh the memory of unity shown by Maldivians during that time. They also mentioned that the exhibition will showcase the progress made so far in reducing damage from disasters.

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) and other institutions working in the field of disaster risk reduction are also participating in organizing this exhibition, which is open to the public.

In the tsunami disaster, 83 people died and 25 went missing in the Maldives. The disaster caused varying degrees of damage to all islands in the Maldives except for nine. Some islands were completely destroyed.
