Amid the current rainy weather affecting the Maldives, Male' has experienced severe flooding due to continuous heavy rainfall since last night.

The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) reported today that various parts of the Maldives are experiencing rainfall due to two low-pressure systems near the country. They stated that from 8:00 PM yesterday to 8:00 AM today, Male' received the highest rainfall at 136.5 millimeters.

The second highest rainfall was recorded in Hulhule at 117.4 millimeters. Among the atolls, B. Dharavandhoo received the most rain at 111.5 millimeters.

Due to the heavy rain since last night, many houses in the Maafannu area of Male' have been flooded. The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) is working on placing sandbags as water continues to enter households due to flooding.

Additionally, because of the heavy rain and flooding on Male's streets, the MNDF has deployed 16 pumps in five areas of Male' to drain the water.

The National Disaster Management Center said they are working in coordination with various agencies to address the flooding situation in Male'.
