A man was arrested on Thursday after attempting to rob a woman on a motorbike in Male' City.

The incident occurred on Alikilegefaanu Magu, where the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Hassan Isaam, allegedly tried to grab a necklace from the woman’s neck while she was riding her bike.

According to the police, the suspect's motorbike has also been seized as part of the investigation. A video of the incident, widely shared on social media, shows the man, wearing a helmet, attempting to snatch the necklace. When his initial attempt failed, he parked his bike in the middle of the road and tried again.

The video shows the woman throwing her bike onto the road and running into a nearby house to escape. The man attempted to follow her but fled the scene on his motorbike when people began gathering. Later in the video, he can be seen riding on the same road without a helmet.

Investigations are ongoing in the case.
