Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has said that Kudafari Beach Conservation Project has reached 57 percent completion.

As of yesterday, MTCC reported that 35 percent of the geobag filling work has been finished, while 21 percent of the geobag installation has been completed. The project involves constructing a 610-metre geobag revetment and a 220-metre groin to protect the beach from erosion.

The project, valued at MVR 17.57 million, was awarded to MTCC with a deadline of 300 days for completion. Work officially began on 30th August last year, following its handover by the Ministry of Housing on 8th February 2022.

The Kudafari Beach Conservation Project is a vital initiative to combat coastal erosion and protect the island’s shoreline, ensuring sustainable living conditions for the local community.
