Asma Shafeeq has been appointed as the Commissioner of the Economic Reform Office, established under the Ministry of Finance to strengthen the state's financial system.

The Ministry of Finance announced the vacancy for the Reform Commissioner position on the fourth of this month. The application deadline expired on the eighth of this month.

Asma, who worked at MIRA for 14 years, is the former Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation. She was appointed to that position in 2019. However, her five-year term ended on October 31 of this month.

She will be working at the Ministry of Finance under a two-year contract. However, the Ministry of Finance has not disclosed the salary for this position.

According to the Ministry, the responsibilities of the Reform Commissioner include developing reform strategies, preparing progress reports related to economic, SOE, and fiscal reforms, and developing related frameworks and plans.
