Statistics from the Ministry of Finance show that government spending on Aasandha subsidies has begun to decrease with the measures implemented by the government to reduce wastage in these areas.
According to the weekly statistics published by the Ministry of Finance, as of the fifth day of this month, MVR 1.88 billion has been spent on Aasandha. This is a decrease of MVR 101 million compared to the MVR 1.98 billion spent during the same period last year.
Every year, Aasandha spending exceeds the budgeted amount by millions of rufiyaa. However, unlike previous years, this year's spending has not yet exceeded the allocated budget. The state budget approved for this year allocated MVR 1.99 billion for Aasandha.
Looking at government spending on subsidies, as of the fifth day of this month, MVR 3.44 billion has been spent on subsidies. This is a decrease of MVR 233 million compared to last year. During the same period last year, MVR 3.68 billion was spent on subsidies.
The MVR 3.44 billion spent on subsidies by the fifth day of this month is MVR 614 million more than the budgeted amount for this year. The budget allocated MVR 2.8 billion for subsidies this year.
