President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced the commencement of a 100-unit housing project in Mahibadhoo, scheduled to begin next year. The announcement was made during his two-day visit to the island, where he met with local residents.
The President emphasised that the 2025 national budget will prioritise housing, particularly in rural areas, aligning with his campaign promises. “Next year will be the year I fulfil my promise to develop housing in ADh. Mahibadhoo. We will begin work on 100 housing units and aim to proceed as quickly as possible,” he assured.
President Dr Muizzu also outlined plans to transform Mahibadhoo into an urban centre, elevating the island’s services and infrastructure to the highest standards. This includes boosting sports activities and undertaking broader developmental initiatives starting next year.
The President reiterated his commitment to ensuring all projects are completed within his term, emphasising that the urbanisation of Mahibadhoo will fulfil the needs of a modern community.
“Everything required for an urban centre will be delivered, and it is my policy to see these initiatives through to completion,” he stated.
