Supreme Court of the Maldives has scheduled a hearing of former Vice President, Ahmed Adeeb's terror trial for tomorrow.

The Supreme Court revealed that this was a case made by Ahmed Adeeb against the Prosecutor General (PG). Hence this is the appeal of the 10 year jail term issued by the Criminal Court for the possession of a firearm. The sentence was also backed by the High Court.

According to the court, Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi, Al-Ustaz Adam Mohamed Abdulla and Al-Ustaz AbdulGhanee Mohamed will be presiding over the hearing, scheduled for 12:45pm tomorrow.

Terrorism charges were pressed against Adeeb after he was allegedly found in possession of a pistol and bullets.

His lawyer noted that the Criminal Court based the charges and their verdict on the witness testimonies of three individuals. Criminal Court’s verdict was later upheld by the High Court.

The three witnesses had stated that they saw Adeeb with something that was familiar to a pistol. However, during the case no forensic investigations were presented – which is crucial for a case like this.

Criminal Court had sentenced Adeeb for 10 years for the possession of a pistol and bullets.
