Following a devastating fire that rendered their shared building unusable, the operations of three ministries—the Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Construction, and Ministry of Environment—will temporarily be relocated to Dharubaaruge.
The fire, which broke out yesterday, caused significant damage to the structure and led to the suspension of services provided by these ministries.
The Male' City Council, which also operated from the affected building, confirmed that its services were disrupted. However, the council announced via its X account that efforts are underway to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. As a temporary measure, the council's office operations have been moved to Hulhumale'.
The Ministry of Housing has assured the public that steps are being taken to minimise the impact of the incident, with arrangements for resuming the ministries' work at Dharubaaruge already in progress.
In the aftermath of the fire, the nearby social centre offered temporary shelter to 50 residents displaced from their homes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze.
The authorities remain committed to restoring normalcy and ensuring the continuity of essential services for the residents of Malé.
