Three people have been arrested in connection with the case of blocking the Hulhumale road, preventing vehicles from accessing the Sinamale bridge, during a protest carried out by some taxi drivers in Hulhumale last night.
Taxi drivers protested last night against the government's decision to start a taxi line service. During the protest, they blocked the Hulhumale road, preventing four-wheeled vehicles from accessing the Sinamale bridge, causing heavy traffic. However, the police resolved the issue and towed all taxis and cars.
In a message sent to the media today, the police said that three people have been arrested and 22 four-wheeled vehicles have been towed in connection with this case.
The three arrested individuals are Mohamed Shamin (39) from M. Virahu, Ahmed Shabeen (33) from L. Dhanbidhoo / Sunray, and Numan Ahmed (36) from HD. Kumudhoo / Holiday Village.
The police said that when they were presented to the court for a remand hearing, Numan was released with conditions, while Shamin and Shabeen were ordered to be detained for five days.
