President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has nominated the names of 12 candidates to the Parliament for appointment to two vacant positions in the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (BroadCom).

The vacancies arose following the expiry of terms for members Maryam Waheeda and Ali Yoosuf at the end of this month.

In his letter to the Parliament, President Dr Muizzu stated that the list of applicants was compiled based on his assessment of their suitability for the roles. He requested that the Parliament clear the nominees for appointment.

The Speaker of Parliament confirmed that the President’s letter has been forwarded to the Independent Institutions Committee for further review and evaluation.
