Services provided by the Housing Ministry, Construction and Infrastructure Ministry, and Environment Ministry have been temporarily suspended following a fire that destroyed their shared building early this morning.
The fire, which broke out around 0630hrs, was brought under control by the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) fire rescue team after four hours. No injuries were reported among employees of any of the affected ministries.
In separate statements, both the Construction and Environment Ministries confirmed the temporary suspension of their services due to extensive damage to the building. The ministries expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and assured the public that updates on service resumption would be shared soon.
A source from the Housing Ministry confirmed that its services are also on hold, with discussions underway to find a temporary location for operations. The ministry assured the public that all data related to the housing scheme remains safe, as it is securely stored digitally in cloud systems.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Further updates are expected as authorities assess the situation.
