Housing Ministry building, which caught on fire early this morning has completely burnt down.
According to reports, the fire started around hrs on the first floor of a tin-structured section on the western side of the building. Fortunately, no one was inside at the time.
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) fire and rescue team worked for four hours to bring the blaze under control.
In a statement, the Housing Ministry assured the public that all data related to the housing scheme is safe, as it is securely stored digitally in cloud systems. The ministry confirmed that no information or documents have been lost.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
