Housing Ministry has assured the public that no information related to the Gedhoruveriyaa scheme will be lost despite a major fire that gutted its building.

The fire, which also affected the offices of the Construction Ministry and Environment Ministry housed in the same building, is yet to be brought under control. The tin structure of the Housing Ministry was completely destroyed.

In a statement, the Housing Ministry confirmed that none of its employees were injured in the incident. Addressing concerns about the safety of housing scheme documents, the ministry explained that all related information is securely stored digitally in cloud systems, ensuring no data has been lost.

The ministry added that it is actively working with stakeholders to assess and enhance safety and security measures in light of the fire. Efforts to contain the blaze are ongoing, with updates expected soon.
