Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee has called for a criminal investigation and potential prosecution of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail, and former Minister at the President's Office, Ali Siyam. The decision stems from allegations of misconduct during their tenure.

The proposal, made by Funadhoo MP Mohamed Mamdooh, was supported by Kelaa MP Abdulla Shareef during a committee meeting focused on compensation payments made by the state to various individuals.

The committee has requested the Prosecutor General’s Office to investigate these claims and proceed with charges if sufficient evidence is found.

It was also highlighted during the meeting that agreements signed under the state’s compensation policy between 2019 and 2023 were deemed invalid from their inception.
