President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has today assured that he will guarantee fundamental rights to all citizens without discrimination.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) in connection with International Human Rights Day, the President said that as we mark Human Rights Day, it reminds us that our rights are interconnected with one another.

The President said that Human Rights Day is a day that reminds us of the importance of protecting oneself to stand up for the freedom of others.

"This principle is also the main foundation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was established 75 years ago," the President said.

The President said that Maldives will remain committed to building a society based on dignity, equality, and justice, which are the core principles of democracy. He added that this government is one that formulates policies and laws to ensure equal access to healthcare, education, and justice in accordance with the geography of Maldives, and works towards building a peaceful and inclusive society.

The President further stated that this government will remain committed to upholding freedom of the press, workers' rights, gender equality, and maintaining a sustainable environment to ensure it for future generations.
