The Parliament has approved the appointment of Fuad Taufeeq, former President of the Election Commission, as the Maldives' Ambassador to Thailand.

Fuad has a distinguished history of service, having joined the Election Commission in 2008 following the adoption of the new constitution. He became the President of the Commission in 2009 and served in that role until March 2014. Fuad returned to the Commission in 2019, further contributing to electoral reforms and governance.

His extensive experience in public service is expected to enhance diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Thailand in his new role as ambassador.
