President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has reaffirmed his commitment to providing fishermen with access to fuel at STO rates from at least one island in each atoll by the end of 2025. Speaking during his visit to K. Atoll, the President shared updates on the progress of this election pledge.

Last month, the Government launched a programme to address the difficulties fishermen face in obtaining fuel. The initiative aims to ensure that fuel is available at STO rates from one designated island in every atoll.

“By the end of next year, this service will be fully implemented nationwide, fulfilling the promise to support fishermen across the country,” President Dr Muizzu said.

Starting tomorrow, fishermen will be able to purchase fuel at STO rates from the following sites operated by Fuel Supply Maldives (FSM):

  • Himmafushi
  • Kooddoo
  • Felivaru
  • Addu City, Hulhumeedhoo

The President also noted that arrangements are being made for STO to supply fuel at STO rates from MIFCO vessels stationed in Kooddoo and Felivaru.
